A youth-friendly dialogue session was conducted at the Degan China Camp Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Center in Kombolcha to engage young people in discussions on the causes and contributing factors of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).
The session provided a safe and participatory environment where young participants could openly discuss their experiences, concerns, and perspectives on SGBV. The discussion explored factors that contribute to violence, including harmful social norms, gender inequality, discrimination, lack of awareness, economic vulnerability, and other community-level challenges.
Participants were encouraged to identify practical ways young people can contribute to preventing SGBV and promoting respectful relationships within their families and communities. The dialogue also emphasized the importance of speaking out against violence, supporting survivors, and connecting individuals at risk with appropriate protection and support services.
The session strengthened young people’s awareness of SGBV prevention and encouraged them to become active participants in creating safer, more inclusive, and violence-free communities at the IDP center and beyond.
