A project closure event was conducted to mark the completion of the Preventing and Responding to Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), Including Harmful Traditional Practices (HTPs) Project in Ethiopia, funded by UNFPA.
The closure provided an opportunity for project stakeholders, partners, beneficiaries, and other relevant actors to reflect on the achievements, lessons learned, challenges, and overall impact of the project. Participants reviewed the key interventions implemented to prevent and respond to SGBV and HTPs and discussed the progress made in strengthening awareness, protection, referral mechanisms, and support for affected communities.
The project implemented a range of activities targeting women and girls, women with disabilities, students, teachers, employers, domestic workers, and key community stakeholders. These interventions contributed to strengthening knowledge, promoting economic empowerment, improving access to support services, and encouraging community engagement in the prevention of SGBV and harmful traditional practices.
The closure event also emphasized the importance of sustaining the gains achieved through the project and continuing collaboration among government institutions, civil society organizations, communities, and development partners.
SYGE extends its sincere appreciation to UNFPA and all partners and stakeholders for their financial, technical, and collaborative support throughout the implementation of the project. The experience and lessons gained will continue to inform future efforts to prevent and respond to SGBV and HTPs and to promote safer, more inclusive, and violence-free communities in Ethiopia.
