A supervision visit was conducted to follow up with members of the Ethiopian Women with Disabilities National Association (EWDNA) who received Business Development and Saving (BDS) training and seed money support under the project funded by UNFPA.
During the supervision, it was observed that the beneficiaries had successfully started their businesses using the knowledge and skills gained through the BDS training and the seed money provided. The beneficiaries are engaged in various income-generating activities, including petty trading, traditional cloth production and sales, and mini-restaurant businesses.
The supervision visit provided an opportunity to assess the progress of the beneficiaries, understand the challenges they are facing, and provide encouragement and follow-up support. The progress observed during the visit demonstrated the beneficiaries’ commitment to using the support to improve their livelihoods and strengthen their economic independence.
As part of supporting the beneficiaries’ businesses, SYGE staff member Genet Desta purchased traditional cloth from one of the BDS beneficiaries. This practical support helped demonstrate the importance of promoting and purchasing products produced or sold by women with disabilities.
The supervision showed promising progress and increased confidence that the beneficiaries can continue developing their businesses and achieving greater economic empowerment, self-reliance, and sustainable livelihoods.
