School Awareness Events on SGBV, SRH, and COVID-19

October 3, 2022

School awareness events were conducted from 28–29 September 2022 at Shimeleshabte and Temenjayazhi target schools under the SGBV Including Harmful Traditional Practices (HTPs) Project, funded by UNFPA.

The events aimed to enhance the awareness and understanding of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), and COVID-19 prevention among school communities. Students, teachers, and other members of the school community participated in the awareness-raising activities.

To make the messages accessible, engaging, and memorable, different forms of educational entertainment were used, including drama, music, and puppet shows. These approaches provided an interactive platform for communicating important messages and encouraging participants to discuss issues affecting their safety, health, and well-being.

The events helped strengthen awareness among school communities about SGBV prevention, SRH, and COVID-19, while promoting positive attitudes, responsible behaviors, and a safer and more supportive school environment.
