Life Skills Training for Women with Disabilities in Bahir Dar

September 26, 2022

A life skills training was conducted for Women with Disabilities (WWDs) at the Bahir Dar project site under the SGBV Including Harmful Traditional Practices (HTPs) Project, funded by UNFPA.

The training was organized to complement and reinforce the Business Development and Saving (BDS) training previously provided to the participants. It aimed to strengthen essential personal and interpersonal skills that can help WWDs confidently apply their business knowledge and manage challenges in their daily lives and future livelihood activities.

The training covered practical life skills such as communication, decision-making, problem-solving, self-confidence, goal setting, interpersonal relationships, and coping with challenges. Participants actively engaged in discussions, practical exercises, experience sharing, and group activities.

By combining life skills with the previously delivered BDS training, the activity sought to strengthen participants’ confidence, resilience, economic empowerment, and self-reliance. It also contributed to reducing vulnerabilities to SGBV and promoting the dignity, safety, and well-being of women with disabilities.
