Business Development and Saving (BDS) Training at Hawassa Site

September 22, 2022

A participatory and practical Business Development and Saving (BDS) training was conducted at the Hawassa project site from 14–22 September 2022 under the SGBV Including Harmful Traditional Practices (HTPs) Project, funded by UNFPA.

The training was designed to equip participants with the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to engage successfully in future business activities. The sessions focused on business development, identifying viable business opportunities, business planning, financial management, saving practices, and sustainable management of small businesses.

The training methodology was highly participatory and pragmatic, allowing trainees to actively participate in discussions, practical exercises, experience sharing, and problem-solving activities. This approach helped participants connect the training content with real-life business situations and develop practical solutions to potential challenges.

The training aimed to strengthen participants’ economic capacity, confidence, and self-reliance by preparing them for meaningful and sustainable business engagement. It also contributed to the broader objectives of the SGBV Including HTPs Project by promoting economic empowerment and reducing vulnerabilities that may increase the risk of gender-based violence.
