A five-day Business Development and Saving (BDS) training was provided to 15 selected members of the Ethiopian Women with Disabilities National Association (EWDNA) in Addis Ababa. The training started on 14 September 2022 and continued through 20 September 2022.
The training was conducted as part of Save Your Generation Ethiopia (SYGE)’s SGBV Including Harmful Traditional Practices (HTPs) Project, funded by UNFPA. It aimed to strengthen participants’ knowledge and practical skills in business development, financial management, saving, and income-generating activities.
During the training, participants gained knowledge on identifying business opportunities, developing business plans, managing small businesses, budgeting, saving practices, and responsible financial decision-making. The sessions also encouraged participants to use their skills and available resources to improve their economic independence and livelihood opportunities.
The training contributed to the economic empowerment and self-reliance of women with disabilities while supporting broader efforts to reduce vulnerabilities to sexual and gender-based violence through improved economic opportunities and resilience.
