BBDS Training and Seed Money Support for Women with Disabilities in Bahir Dar

September 9, 2022

A Business and Basic Development Skills (BBDS) training was provided to 50 Women with Disabilities (WWDs) in Bahir Dar under the SGBV Including Harmful Traditional Practices (HTPs) Project, implemented by Save Your Generation Ethiopia (SYGE) and funded by UNFPA.

The training aimed to strengthen participants’ basic business knowledge and entrepreneurial skills and to equip them with the practical knowledge needed to start or strengthen income-generating activities. The participants received guidance on business planning, financial management, saving, customer relations, and sustainable use of business resources.

Following the training, seed money support was provided to the participating WWDs to help them initiate or expand small income-generating activities. The support was intended to strengthen their economic empowerment, self-reliance, and resilience while contributing to the prevention of vulnerabilities associated with economic dependency.

The activity contributed to promoting the dignity, economic empowerment, and social inclusion of women with disabilities in Bahir Dar and strengthening their capacity to build more secure and independent livelihoods.
