Two-Day SGBV Awareness Training for Female Domestic Workers

August 18, 2022

A two-day Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) awareness training was conducted for Female Domestic Workers (FDWs) in Yeka Woreda 9 from 17–18 August 2022.

The training aimed to increase participants’ awareness and understanding of sexual and gender-based violence, its different forms, causes, consequences, and prevention mechanisms. Participants were also informed about their rights, available support services, reporting mechanisms, and ways to seek assistance when experiencing or witnessing SGBV.

Throughout the two-day session, participants actively engaged in discussions, experience sharing, and awareness-raising activities. The training provided a safe space for FDWs to discuss challenges they face in their workplaces and communities and to learn practical approaches for preventing violence and protecting themselves and others.

The training contributed to strengthening participants’ knowledge of SGBV prevention and response and encouraged them to promote safe, respectful, and violence-free working environments.
