Addis Ababa — As part of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) 2021, Save Your Generation Ethiopia (SYGE) conducted a stakeholder discussion at Intercontinental Hotel under its SGBV project funded by UNFPA.
The discussion brought together key stakeholders to strengthen collective efforts to prevent and respond to Gender-Based Violence (GBV). Participants reflected on the challenges associated with GBV, shared experiences, and discussed practical actions needed to strengthen prevention, protection, and response mechanisms.
The stakeholder dialogue provided an important platform for government representatives, community actors, civil society organizations, and other relevant stakeholders to exchange perspectives and identify opportunities for stronger coordination. Participants emphasized the importance of collaborative action in addressing the underlying causes of GBV and ensuring that survivors and those at risk can access appropriate support and protection services.
The activity formed part of SYGE’s broader 16 Days of Activism campaign, which seeks to raise public awareness, promote dialogue, and mobilize communities and institutions to take action against violence affecting women and girls.
Through the stakeholder discussion, SYGE reinforced its commitment to working with partners and relevant institutions to strengthen GBV prevention and response efforts. The discussions and recommendations generated during the event are expected to contribute to improved coordination and continued advocacy for safer and more supportive communities.
