Addis Ababa — A community edutainment session was conducted at Temenja Yazi School to raise awareness about Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) and encourage the school community to take an active role in prevention.
The awareness event brought together 755 participants, including 349 males and 406 females. The strong participation demonstrated the school community’s interest in learning more about SGBV, its impacts, and the importance of collective action to prevent violence.
The edutainment approach combined educational messages with engaging entertainment activities, making the sensitive topic of SGBV more accessible and encouraging active participation. Participants followed the program with enthusiasm and had an opportunity to engage with the key prevention messages presented during the session.
The activity also highlighted the important role of schools and their communities in creating safe and supportive environments for students. By raising awareness and encouraging dialogue, the session contributed to strengthening understanding of SGBV prevention and promoting positive attitudes among students and other members of the school community.
The edutainment team was highly organized and successfully delivered the program, while the active participation and cooperation of the Temenja Yazi School community contributed significantly to the success of the event.
