Panel Discussion Reviews Achievements and Challenges of SGBV Prevention Project

June 19, 2021

Addis Ababa — June 19, 2021: A panel discussion bringing together key stakeholders working with Female Domestic Workers (FDWs) was conducted at Friendship International Hotel to review the achievements, challenges, and lessons learned from the Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) prevention project.

The discussion provided an important platform for stakeholders to reflect on the progress made through the project and assess the challenges encountered during implementation. Participants shared experiences, identified gaps, and discussed practical approaches to strengthen ongoing efforts to prevent and respond to SGBV affecting female domestic workers.

Key stakeholders also highlighted the importance of continued collaboration among relevant actors to improve awareness, protection, referral, and support mechanisms for FDWs. The panel emphasized the need for coordinated interventions that address the risks and vulnerabilities faced by women and girls in domestic work settings.

The discussion further provided an opportunity to document lessons learned and identify areas requiring additional attention. Participants underscored the importance of strengthening community awareness, improving access to support services, and ensuring that SGBV prevention and response mechanisms are accessible to vulnerable groups.

For SYGE, the panel discussion represented an important opportunity to engage stakeholders in reviewing project progress and generating recommendations for future programming. The insights gathered will help inform continued efforts to strengthen SGBV prevention and protection initiatives for female domestic workers and other vulnerable communities.
