Stakeholder Panel Discussion on Sexual Violence and COVID-19 Prevention

June 17, 2021

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia — Save Your Generation Ethiopia (SYGE), an NGO committed to protecting and empowering women, girls, children, and young people, organized a panel discussion on sexual violence against women and girls and COVID-19 prevention at Friendship International Hotel.

The discussion brought together stakeholders and representatives of school communities to create a platform for dialogue, experience sharing, and coordinated action on issues affecting the safety and wellbeing of women and girls.

Participants discussed the prevention of sexual violence, the importance of awareness and early intervention, available support mechanisms, and the role of schools, families, communities, and stakeholders in creating safe environments for women and girls.

The panel also addressed COVID-19 prevention and health protection, emphasizing the importance of awareness, hygiene, appropriate preventive practices, and collective responsibility in reducing the spread of infectious diseases within school and community settings.

The event provided an opportunity for stakeholders and school communities to exchange experiences, identify challenges, and discuss practical recommendations for strengthening prevention, protection, and community-based responses.

Through dialogue, awareness creation, and stakeholder engagement, SYGE continues to work toward safer, healthier, and more supportive environments for women, girls, children, and young people.
