Addis Ababa, Ethiopia — Save Your Generation Ethiopia (SYGE), an NGO working to promote the wellbeing and empowerment of young people, conducted a training on drug and substance abuse prevention at Addis Ketema Secondary and Preparatory School.
The training aimed to increase students’ awareness of the harmful effects of drug and substance abuse and strengthen their ability to make informed and responsible decisions. Participants discussed the physical, psychological, social, and educational consequences associated with substance use.
The session also addressed peer pressure, risk factors, prevention strategies, positive decision-making, and the importance of seeking support from trusted adults, teachers, parents, and other appropriate sources when facing challenges.
Through interactive discussions and awareness activities, students were encouraged to become informed peer advocates and contribute to creating a safe and healthy school environment.
The activity demonstrates SYGE’s continued commitment to preventing drug and substance abuse among young people and promoting healthy, productive, and substance-free communities.
